After last week’s storm brought nearly seven inches of rain to Weslaco in just 24 hours, residents north of the city are questioning whether local drainage systems functioned as intended. One homeowner reported water entering her home and flooding her yard, raising concerns about runoff and drainage conditions. Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 says it is aware of the situation and continues working to ensure water flows safely out of neighborhoods during heavy rain events.
