The Accounting Department is responsible for the safe keeping of the district’s assets through a variety of functions including Budgets, Cash and Debt Management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Accounting, Investments, Capital Assets, and all financial reporting requirements. All functions ensure compliance with all state statutes primarily the Texas Water Code and all local and Federal laws, as well as policies adopted by the Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 Board of Directors.

The District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 6 consecutive years from the Government Finance Officers Association.
