HCDD1 and the US Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, (USACE) are
proposing a project to improve the existing regional storm water drainage system in
Hidalgo and Willacy Counties, Texas. A Draft Integrated Feasibility Report (FR) and
Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared by HCDD1, and will be submitted
to USACE under the authority of Section 203 of the Water Resources Development Act
of 1986 (WRDA 1986), as amended. The draft report can be downloaded below.
If implemented, this proposed drainage system improvement project, known as the
Raymondville Drain Project (RDP), would expand the existing Raymondville Drain and
construct new drainage system elements (i.e., detention basin, channels, control
structures, etc.) to provide risk reduction benefits within low-lying areas of Hidalgo and
Willacy Counties.
As part of the ongoing project development process, you are encouraged to offer
comments on the proposed RDP and the draft integrated FR and EA. Public review of
this draft integrated FR and EA is open for a period of 30 days, starting on 11 February
2026 and ending on 13 March 2026.
